Who doesn’t love a good curry. Whether it’s for a romantic meal for two, a night out with friends, or a place to refuel at the end of a night out, Manchester has curry houses to suit every taste and budget.
With a whole mile of curry in Rusholme and many more restaurants in the city centre, it can be difficult to know where to choose.
I’ve put together a list of my favourite curry houses, and the ones I can’t wait to try.
Where to go
Mughli, Rusholme
Starting with the curry mile, this is the only restaurant you’ll see cropping up on recommendations consistently. With a street food style menu and gorgeous meats straight from the tandoor, it’s one not to miss.

EastZEast, Riverside
One of the more sophisticated dining experiences when it comes to curry in Manchester. Also offering happy hour cocktails each night from 5.00 to 7.00 pm.

Akhbar’s
Always busy and you can only book for parties of 10 or more. It’s worth waiting for a table though, for delicious curry and family sized naan that’s so popular, other restaurants are following suit.

Scene
A fabulous new addition to Spinningfields, it’s the place to go for Indian street food.

Lal Quila
Reliably good curry and round the corner from Akhbar’s, giving you an easy second option. Look out for the magician waiter who performs tricks at your table.
