Winning a Milkshake from The Milk Barn

I never win anything, but a few weeks ago I was lucky to win a Facebook competition. The prize was 2 milkshakes from The Milk Barn in Middleton.

IMG_1596It took me a little while to head over there to check out the shop, which is now in it’s 8th week, but it was definitely worth the wait.

On walking in to The Milk Barn the first thing I noticed was the simple decor. White walls, wooden benches, and mirrors give the place a clean, bright and airy feel. The owner, Danny, is friendly and happy to let you spend time pondering the menu.

He knows it’s not easy to choose from the veritable chocolate box of flavours.

Asking for a recommendation, I was assured that the Skittles milkshake is a big hitter. I decided against it because I can’t get my head around the idea –  Skittles and milk?

Preferring chocolate; in the end I opted for the Dairy Milk Caramel and the boy, who was the lucky participant in the other milkshake, went for the Daim. Both were delicious but we agreed that the Caramel worked best. Maybe it was because of the stronger chocolate taste once it was mixed with the milk.

Ready for the chilly season, The Milk Barn also offers barista style coffees

and luxury hot chocolates, including a festive Peppermint Hot Chocolate, as advertised by a rather cute Reindeer.

Apparently a smoothie range is coming soon, for those times when a chocolate bar milkshake feels just a little too indulgent – I’m not sure I ever have those times – maybe in the New Year when I’m all Christmas chocolate-ed out!

The Milk Barn is located on Fountain Street in Middleton, which puts it in an ideal spot for a treat when you have finished your food shop in Tesco. It reminded me of the days when my Mum took me to Wimpy for a milkshake after the weekly shop. The Milk Barn shakes however, did not remind me of Wimpy shakes, and that, I can assure you, is a good thing!

The Milk Barn sounds very appealing. You must ask Danny if he would kindly open a barn in Norfolk ……

My memories of Wimpy milkshakes are great love the thick shakes now only mcdonalds and frijj seem to get close.

I tried a skittles milkshake that they sell in some shops now and it was ok tasty but not amazing.

The menu for the above milk barn seems to be limited to rather chocolaty based milkshakes so unless they provide a nice thick vanilla or banana, strawberry or cherry then ill give a miss
