The last Friday of every month sees Stockport come to life for Foodie Friday. Street food vendors jostle alongside craft beer sellers, whilst live entertainment creates a party atmosphere.
Foodie Friday happens in the Grade II listed Victorian Market Hall and the surrounding cobbled streets of Stockport’s historic old town.
You’re bound to find something to tickle your taste buds as you breathe in the inviting smells that waft from numerous food vans. Choose from juicy burgers, wood fired pizzas, quesadillas, paella and much more.
When it’s time for something sweet you can’t beat an ice cream, or maybe churros – or both!
Wash your food down with a craft ale or homemade lemonade then have a boogie to the sounds of live music and performances from local artists.
Don’t forget to venture inside the beautiful market hall where you will find an old fashioned sweet shop selling pick and mix. Be prepared to fight through a queue of big and small kids to get to the sugary goodness.
Wine and cheese vendors give you the chance to stock up for the weekend and you’ll find a few bars and a place to sit down under the glass roof and festive bunting.
As the market draws to a close at 9.00 pm the surrounding pubs host the market performers and the party continues in to the night.
I’m sure the gorgeous summer evening helped to draw the crowds on Friday but, whatever the weather, it’s worth venturing out to Stockport for a fun night out with a difference. My advice is simple – go hungry!
