In Rusholme it’s easy to feel like you’ve left Manchester and wound up somewhere else altogether. Sometimes on a warm sunny evening, that’s exactly what’s needed.
The curry mile may be best known for curry, but another joy to be found amongst the Indian restaurants are the ice cream parlours.
If you’re an ice cream lover like me, and in search of a sweet treat after dinner, your cravings are bound to be satisfied by a visit to Moonlight.
Claiming to offer over 26 flavours of ice cream, it certainly offers a wide selection, as well as cakes, waffles, sundaes and Faluda, which Wikipedia tells me is a cold beverage, popular in the Indian subcontinent and made traditionally from a mix of rose syrup, vermicelli, basil seeds, tapioca pearls and pieces of gelatin with milk or water.
Spoilt for choice I opted for 3 scoops, although by Moonlight standards this is a poor showing as their menu offers up to 6 and I am sure they would happily serve you more.
In choosing Toffee Fudge, Raspberry Ripple and Honeycomb, I had to reject the Malteaser, Cookies and Cream, White Chocolate and Ferrero Rocher. There are flavours to suit every taste, including a surprisingly blue bubblegum flavour. There’s something so unnerving about blue food.
To be honest, 3 scoops was too much but I persevered, and it is gorgeous ice cream.
So next time you just have to have a bowl of ice cream, go crazy with the flavours from Moonlight.

It’s right opposite Mughli, so you could pop in there first.
