Kirstie’s bringing Christmas to Manchester

This November, Kirstie Allsopp is bringing all things crafty and all things Christmas to Manchester Central with The Handmade Christmas Fair. It’s an opportunity for creative people to get together and learn from the experts.

The event runs from 20 to 22 November and all you lovely readers of Becci’s Blog are eligible for an exclusive discount on tickets. Keep reading and I’ll tell you how to get it.

It’s no secret that I love making things and those who know me will also know that I am a little bit obsessed with Kirstie’s craft programmes and projects. So, when my mum told me that The Handmade Fair was coming to Manchester, I wasted no time sorting us out with tickets.

A Full Experience ticket to the event gives you access to three workshops throughout the day. All on a festive theme, there are lots of exciting options to choose from. Sessions are run in different environments to keep things varied and fun.

The Super Theatre involves tutorials and demos featuring a giant gingerbread house, cocktail master classes, a massive knitting and nattering session, and festive goodies galore. I’m particularly excited about learning how to upholster a footstool with Manchester based Ministry of Upholstery. I’m hoping to acquire the techniques I need to do something exciting with a rather tatty looking footstool I picked up for a fiver at an antique shop – it’s serving its purpose but is much in need of TLC. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

Skills Workshops give you the chance to create decorations, family crafts, wrapping paper or gifts. Take instructions from the likes of Annie Sloan (chalk paint queen), Deborah Simm (Great British Sewing Bee semi-finalist) and many more.

And that’s not all. You also get to take part in a Grand Make. Get crafty with like minded people whilst making needle felt baubles, paper bunting, or Christmas robin decorations.

When you’re all crafted out, there’s a Christmas Shopping Village to pick up all kinds of interesting and unusual gifts. From what I’ve seen so far I think my credit card will be safer at home!
