Michael Caines’ Restaurant at Abode in Manchester is one of the city’s top fine dining restaurants. I was lucky to be taken there for my Birthday dinner.
We chose the 6 course tasting menu with matching wines, favouring this option for giving us the chance to try food we wouldn’t otherwise order.
We enjoy listening to the explanations about the wine that is matched with each dish, then spotting the difference in taste before and with the food.
Amusingly, the waiter told us that he had spent an hour smelling one of the red wines to identify the flavours! That sounds to me like a job requiring a lot of restraint.
Unfortunately I forgot to photograph the first course, which was a beetroot salad. I was clearly too excited about the food and by that point, already a cocktail and glass of wine in to the evening.
Anyway, I managed to capture the rest and wanted to share the experience by way of a few pictures to tantalise the taste buds!
Always one to pay attention to my surroundings, I had a nosey in the hotel lobby while we waited for our taxi.
This was an opportunity to marvel at the magnificent building and the unusual decor, which was right up my, Manchester loving, street!
